The strap

Built like a watch strap, made for a sensor.

WHOOP shipped you a woven band designed to disappear. This is the opposite brief: the same sensor, finished to the standard of a dress watch.

A WHOOP band has an unusual job. It has to hold a sensor flat against the skin accurately enough for the readings to mean anything, and it has to do that on a wrist that moves all day. Most straps solve that with elastic. We solved it with leather, a backing layer and a metal connector cut to the sensor's own tolerances.

Construction

Top layer

Himalayan crocodile leather, cut from a single hide so the gradient runs continuously along the strap rather than jumping at a seam. The pale centre and smoky edge are explained in full on the material page.

Backing

A soft lining sits between the exotic leather and your skin. Exotic hides are structurally beautiful and not especially comfortable against skin for hours at a time; the lining is what makes all-day wear practical, and it also stops the top layer absorbing moisture from the wrist.

Edges

Skived thin, then edge-painted and burnished in multiple passes. A sealed edge is the difference between a strap that still looks deliberate after a year and one that starts to fuzz along its length.

Stitching

Hand-stitched along both edges. Hand stitching uses two needles and a single thread crossing through each hole, so a broken stitch stays local instead of unzipping the way a machine lockstitch can.

Connector and fit

The metal connector is milled to engage the sensor housing the same way the original band does, so the sensor sits at the same height and angle against the wrist. Nothing about the fit changes how the device records.

There are two fits, because WHOOP changed the clasp housing between generations:

  • WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG — these two share a housing, so one strap serves both.
  • WHOOP 4.0 — a narrower housing that needs its own fit.

If you are not certain which device you own, the compatibility guide walks through three ways to check in under a minute.

Finish

One finish, the Himalayan, in the natural pearl-to-smoke gradient shown throughout this site. We are not offering colourways. A single hide type, cut well, is the product.

What it is not

It is worth being direct. This is not a training band. Exotic leather does not belong in a pool, a sauna or a heavy sweat session, and treating it that way will shorten its life considerably. The sensible pattern is the one most people already use with a dress watch: wear the leather when you want to be seen in it, and keep the band WHOOP supplied for the gym. The care guide covers this properly.

Independent product. Himalayan WHOOP is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by WHOOP. The WHOOP device and its membership are not included and are purchased separately from WHOOP.
